Push for petrol-sniffing laws
A Northern Territory drug abuse group has been to see WA’s mental health minister asking for new laws.
The group CAYLUS told the minister better laws to tackle petrol sniffers are needed in WA.
The visit comes after last year’s coronial inquiry into the deaths of several young people from Balgo.
Broome: Jail sentence for indecent dealing with a child
A man received 10-month sentence for a sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl on a community.
Derek James Butt, 35, entered the girls room as she slept, ordered an older relative to leave the room, and then climbed into bed with the girl and touched her breasts.

Kununurra: Teen avoids jail for stabbing
A 16-year-old boy avoided a jail sentence after stabbing a 26-year-old man with a knife.
The ABC describes the incident as a “play fight” that “turned nasty”.

Abstudy is urging parents of kids on scholarships to check their travel plans.
A spokesperson said charter flights sometimes turn up at remote communities only to find the kid is not there, and are difficult to rearrange.
