Yiyili: School kids to butchers and baristas

Yiyili community school kids have been given special food and beverage lessons.

In one series of lessons they selected a beast, slaughtered and butchered it and then learned how the various cuts could be cooked.

In another lesson they learned to be baristas,  using a commercial coffee machine which they now used to provide expresso to cyclists on the Gibb River challenge.

Broome: The Balgo girl who died in custody

M Mandijara died alone in Broome lockup earlier this month.

Some police have privately told the Australian they are not qualified as doctors and nurses, and feel very uneasy locking up people with medical conditions.

The coroner is due to report on Ms Mandijara’s case in the new year.

Yiyili: Store manager found not guilty

The former manager of Yiyili community’s store has been found not guilty of embezzling more than $170,000.

Bruce Murray MacKenzie was arrested three years ago, and faced a trial by jury at Broome District Court last week.
