Kununurra: Farmers suffer from water shortage
Fruit and vegetable growers say lowering the water levels at the Diversion Dam has cost them plenty.
Watercorp says the works are usually planned in February, when rains are expected, but this year rains have been scarce and the diversion dam had to be emptied for urgent maintenance works.

The Water Corporation will lower the water level in Lake Kununurra next week and the week after.
Boat owners are asked to remove their craft to avoid possible damage while maintenance work is in progress.

Halls Creek: $100 fines for overusing sprinklers
The Water Corporation reminds Halls Creek residents the will cop a $100 fine if they use sprinklers more than twice a week.
Other North-West residents may water every second day.

Ernie Bridge
Former water minister Ernie Bridge is sceptical about a plan to pipe Kimberley water to the Murray-Darling.
He said there is more than enough water for the purpose in NSW’s Clarence River.

An “excited” parliamentary taskforce has been to Kununurra, Fitzroy, Derby and some stations looking at potential dam sites.

Pipeline company wants Murray-Darling buyback money
A company keen to build a Kimberley-South Australian water pipeline is seeking Commonwealth funding.
It said the funds to be used to buy back water rights from Murray-Darling irrigators would be better spent piping Kimberley water to Australia’s south and east.
