Officials decided Derby racetrack was too muddy for races to run on Saturday.

The ABC says it was a safety decision made at 11:00 am on what was to be race day.

Kalgoorlie: Broome man to contest assault charge

A Broome man says he intends to plead not guilty to a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

Ronald Beacham, 70, appeared Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court yesterday along with jockey Clint Harvey.

Both were allegedly involved in an assault on a man in a Kalgoorlie pub on Sunday.
