Fitzroy Valley: Jerry can blamed for chopper crash

An inquiry found an empty jerry can caused a low-flying chopper to crash while mustering cattle.

The pilot had stowed the jerry can on a passengers seat with a steering wheel, but wind dislodged it and blew it onto a steering control.

He was not injured.

Kilto Station ‘not responsible’ for workers’ death

A young English worker died at Kilto station 12 months ago.

He fell into a feed bin.

WorkSafe has decided the station is not liable for his death.

Senior Sergeant Rob Neesham is leaving his position as Officer in Charge of Broome Police Station.

“Rob is leaving the police to take up an opportunity in the private sector,” said Police Media representative Ros Weatherall.

“His last day is tomorrow.”

Mr Neesham is taking up a position with Woodside Petroleum.
