One Mile Bombing: Police follow false leads

Police say they have wasted time following up false clues to the One Mile bombing on social media.

A detective told the ABC people have been posting inaccurate descriptions of a car and people involved in the incident.

People have also been posting opinions about the incident, that occurred last week, on websites such as facebook groups.

Celeste Liddle on the One Mile Bombing

Why has an explosive device, thrown from a car and injuring four people, not made national headlines?

Guardian columnist Celeste Liddle says it is because it happened in an Aboriginal community.

“If the attack had happened in an affluent part of Australia, there would be coast-to-coast coverage for days,” she says.

“The lack of media reports on a story affecting Indigenous people is telling.”

Broome: Police seek clues on One Mile, Frederick St incidents

The ABC says the device that injured four people at One Mile was thought to be a firecracker.

Police are appealing for help to identify the perpetrators of this Tuesday attack, and also an arsonist who lit a fire at Frederick Street around 4:00 am today.

It caused about $50,000 to a unit.

A man arrested on Friday escaped from Broome prison, only to be recaptured at One Mile community.
