James Price Point: Goolarabooloo to make separate claim

Joseph Roe’s Goolarabooloo group has lodged a separate native title claim over James Price Point.

Members of the group withdrew from the Jabirr-Jabirr native title group over gas hub differences.

Broome: Land transferred to Yawuru traditional owners

The government has transferred 15 parcels of freehold land to the Yawuru people.

Under the terms of the transfer, the Yawuru people can either develop and keep the land, or sell it.

James Price Point: Compulsory acquisition threat declared ulawful

Chief Justice Wayne Martin has declared the Premier’s compulsory acquisition notices for James Price Point to be unlawful.
“Any decisions made since the notices to take the Land at James Price Point and extinguish Native Title there, are also unlawful,” said lawyers for Goolarabooloo men Neil McKenzie and Phillip Roe, who mounted a supreme court challenge.
