Broome: Anastasia’s Pool destroyed

A storm at Gantheaume Point has damaged historic Anastasia’s Pool beyond repair last month.

Gantheaume Point was the site of Broome’s lighthouse, and lighthouse keepers’ residence.

One of the lighthouse keepers widened the natural pool and added a concrete floor for his wife, who was crippled with arthritis.

Word War grenade found on beach

A family has found what appears to be an old Japanese grenade, and spent ammunition cartidges, on the beach.

They found the objects while walking from Gantheaume Point to Broome Port on Tuesday.
