Springvale: Chopper pilot killed

A helicopter pilot was found dead and his chopper burned at 7:30 this morning.

A search started when the 34-year-old failed to return to Springvale Station at 6:00pm last night.

Fitzroy Valley: Jerry can blamed for chopper crash

An inquiry found an empty jerry can caused a low-flying chopper to crash while mustering cattle.

The pilot had stowed the jerry can on a passengers seat with a steering wheel, but wind dislodged it and blew it onto a steering control.

He was not injured.

Broome: Helicopter service flying again

Broome Helicopter Service says it is flying again after a hearing with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

“The tribunal found there was no risk to aviation safety that should stop BHS from flying,” proprietor Joe Calandra said.

Kununurra: McConachys buying two helicopter companies

A Kununurra business couple is buying two well-known helicopter charter operations.

Michael and Kate McConachy have bought Heliwork WA and are negotiating to buy Lone Eagle Aviation.

This would give the couple, who also own Freshwater East Kimberley Apartments, a combined fleet of 17 helicopters.
