East Kimberley to split football league

The East Kimberley Football League plans to run two “divisions” this season.

Under the plan, the northern and southern divisions are to compete in separate competitions.

A new team, the Bow River Blues, will compete in the southern division.

The EKFL now has 12 member teams.

Billiluna: Manson tries again for AFL

Billiluna football star Waylon Manson is trying out again for the AFL.

As an ill-prepared 18-year-old, he had an unsuccessful 2011 pitch at the big league but recruiters were not convinced he could adjust to city life and AFL discipline.

Since then, Des Headland has been supporting the outstanding goal kicker and he is to feature in a new reality TV series “The Recruit”.

The winner of a series of weekly challenges is to be guaranteed an AFL listing.

Claremont topped East Fremantle by just three points in an exciting finish to yesterday’s WAFL game at Kununurra.

While the Sharks led by more than three goals at one stage, final scores were Claremont 15.8 (98) to East Fremantle 13.17 (95).
