Warmun: Flood rescuers’ bravery recognised

This years Australian Bravery Awards recognised nine people for their part in the 2011 flood rescues.

Christopher Churchill and Senior Constable Donald Couper received Commendations for Brave Conduct.

A group bravery citation went to Kathleen and Rodney Burnby, the late Christopher Clare, Tanya Couper, Cecil Mosquito, Julie Echo and Leon Pinday.

Kununurra: Flood time grog burglar charged

Police arrested three men for breaking into a tavern and helping themselves to liquor during last month’s flood.

Lyndon Carlton, 27, has been charged with burglary and stealing and received an eight-month suspended sentence.

His two co-accused have not entered a plea.

Rains please pastoralists

Many Kimberley stations have had good rains and are pleased with the pasture quality.

Farm Weekly interviewed Peter Camp of Kalyeeda and Kirsty Foreshaw of Nita Downs.

Ms Foreshaw said good prices offered by Indonesia, coupled with the prospect of healthy weight gains made her optimistic about the coming mustering season.

However some areas, such as the Dampier Peninsula, have had more rain than they needed.
