Broome’s Shinju Matsuri festival is forty years old this year.
Festivities kicked off with the float parade last Friday, and will continue til Sunday with a range of community and cultural events you can view here.

Country singer/songwriter Ernie Bridge will be appearing at Halls Creek’s Nguyurru Waaringarrem festival this Saturday.
A former Halls Creek Shire President, Mr Bridge went on to become our state’s first Aboriginal member of parliament.

The Walkabout Boys from Yiyili community will be playing this weekend at Halls Creek’s Nguyuru Waaringarrem festival.

Halls Creek is holding a music festival for the first time later this month (Saturday 28 August).
Performers include Ernie Bridge, Mary G, Madjitil Moorna, The Street Warriors, Walkabout Boys, Geoffrey Fletcher, Wild Turkey, Indigenous Hip Hop, Kimberley Gold, Peter Brandy, Sonic Brand, Blackout, Family Shoveller Band and local school bands.

A well-known dancer and choreographer is in Broome for a month.

Libs will make 2011 ‘year of meals on wheels’ says Barry Haase

Local member Barry Haase says if elected his party will make 2011 the “year of meals on wheels”.
Mr Haase said a Liberal National coalition will provide $2million to the meals on wheels association to fund the initiative.
