Sandfire: Road block nets stolen ute driver.
Police say a man stole a ute from a resort at Cable Beach yesterday morning.
After several high-speed pursuits they arrested him at Sandfire Roadhouse about eight hours later.

Cable Beach: Croc sighting
Broome shire has closed Cable Beach to swimmers.
A shire spokesman issued this statement:
“Cable Beach near Gantheaume Pt has been closed to swimmers following a confirmed sighting of a crocodile about 2.5m long and 20m offshore, midway between Cable Beach and Gantheaume Pt and heading south.
“Shire Rangers and DPaW officers are monitoring, and any enquiries should be made to DPaW.”

A well-known camel rides operator is appealing a shire decision to award 10-year licenses to three other operators.
Ships of the Desert was not awarded a license last year.
Ships of the Desert was the original camel rides operator at Cable Beach.
Cable Beach: Yawuru people develop housing land
Yawuru people are subdividing new housing land for sale on the open market.
They acquired the parcel of land as part of the local native title settlement.
They intend to sell about 45 blocks next year.
Cable Beach: Turtle nursed to health and released
A flatback turtle found near Fremantle has been released at Cable Beach.
The juvenile turtle, which was in poor health, has been rehabilitated at the WA Aquarium.
It has been fitted with a satellite tracking device.
