Opinion: Rachel Siewert on gas hub land acquisition

Greens Senator Rachel Siewert condemned the government’s decision to persist with the gas hub at James Price Point.
“To see Premier Colin Barnett take renewed steps to secure the land at James Price Point is very disappointing and will no doubt harden community opposition,” Greens Senator Rachel Siewert said.
She was commenting on reports that the government had compulsorily acquired additional land needed for the gas hub, after initial boundaries were found to be wrong.

Browse Basin: Inpex buys into floating gas platform

The company that intends to pipe Browse Basin gas to Darwin has also bought into Shell’s floating platform.
An industry journal says Inpex, the Japanese majority owner of the Ichthys project, now has a 17.5% interest in the venture.

A Dutch company has been awarded a $56million contract by the owners of Ichthys gas project.
