Cygnet Bay Pearls has a license to start its own pearl shell hatchery.
It has previously relied on wild shell harvested from the Eighty Mile Beach.

A WA company that farms pearls in Indonesia is to sell its products in Perth.
Perth-based Atlas South Sea Pearls, which boasts “lower production costs”, will open a retail outlet at Claremont’s Bayview Terrace, which is one of Australia’s most expensive strip shopping precincts.

The fish are to be bred in Broome from Ord River stock.

King Sound: Scientific barramundi farm
A Cone Bay barramundi farm says it is using scientific methods to raise barramundi that chefs prefer.
The researchers say the fish have to swim against the King Sound tides, keeping the flesh firm, unlike pond-reared barramundi that grow flabby around the middle.
