Alcohol rehab group Ngnowar Aerwah Aboriginal Corporation is a finalist in Reconciliation Australia’s 2014 Indigenous Governance Awards.
Prof Mick Dodson was chairman of the selection panel.

An Australian company has started a regular shipping service between Singapore, Wyndham and Broome.
The Kimberline is carrying agricultural machinery and mining consumables, but the owners hope to attract cargoes of agricultural exports, such as boxed beef.

Halls Creek: China boom blamed for grog runs
An English newspaper describes “Aboriginal tribes” as “millionaire taxi-hailing dipsos” making a fortune from mining royalties.
“Thanks to the Australian mining boom, some land-owning aborigines have lots of money,” the paper says.
“They can afford to take thousand-dollar cab rides from relatively sober Halls Creek, where you can’t buy booze stronger than 2.7 per cent, all the way to indulgent Kununurra, where you can buy any grog from lunchtime.”

Wyndham crocs going to Darwin
The former Wyndham crocodile farm is selling all of its stock to a Darwin crocodile farm.
All 30 animals have been bought and are expected to be used as breeding stock.
Wyndham: Work camp only two thirds full

Three Kimberley shires are believed to be renewing waste management contracts with the company Tox Free.
They are Wyndham-East Kimberley, Derby-West Kimberley and Broome.
They are said to be renewed for a five-year period.
