James Price Point: Shire monitors protestors

Broome shire rangers are keeping an eye on protestors along the road to James Price Point.
Broome Shire President Graeme Campbell said where the Shire had jurisdiction, a range of local laws came into play with regard to the erection of signage, structures, health and safety, and environmental health.

Michelle Pucci
Michelle Pucci is the endorsed National Party candidate for the state seat of Kimberley.
A former Wyndam-East Kimberley shire president and public servant, Ms Pucci has served as a volunteer on a number of government advisory panels and community organisations.
She has long-standing family connections on both sides of the Kimberley.
James Price Point: EPA report delayed
The Environmental Protection Agency will not recommend on whether to proceed with a gas hub until mid year.
This is a result of revised plans the state government submitted this week.
The state planning commission has moved to take control of planning decision at James Price Point away from the shire.
Broome: Plans for Singapore air link
Several airlines have expressed interest in running direct flights between Singapore and Broome.
Broome airport’s manager said plans would be submitted to upgrade the runway and other facilities to an international standard.

Ord Stage II: Shire president supports overseas investment
Wyndham East Kimberley’s shire president registered no objection to a possible Chinese for 15,000ha of new irrigated land.
“I support whatever decision gives the best result for the East Kimberley in regards to employment and business opportunities,” John Moulden said.

Ivanhoe Crossing still closed
The Ord River crossing at Ivanhoe Station remains closed and will probably stay closed for some time.
Every wet season the crossing, downstream from Kununurra, is flooded by the waters of the Ord and Dunham rivers.
This makes the most convenient road from Wyndham to Kununurra impassable to cars, which have to take the longer route.
