Kununurra
State releases transport plan
The state government has produced a 20-year plan for rail, roads and ports in the regions.
The plan includes a bypass around Kununurra, upgrading Broome wharf and establishing a supply base for Browse Basin.
The opposition is criticising the plan because the government expects it all to be funded by industry.

EKFL weekend roundup
Once again, football guru Dave Muller brings the thrills and spills from the past weekend’s east Kimberley football.
Folks,
The dry season weather has certainly helped our season this week, with fine weather, cool evenings, and big crowds attending.
On Friday night, the Kununurra Demons played a blinder against the Port Wyndham Crocs. For the first time this season, coach Mark Davis played the team as one, and managed to squeeze the game to their advantage. For the Demons, Eldine Macale kicked 4, and was well assisted by Ernie Johnson, and Brent Gore. For the Crocs, it was another tough road trip. This time, John Purdie and Preston Gallagher both tried extremely hard, and as a result, needed some close tagging from the Demons to hold them back. In the end, the Kununurra Demons won 15:7 97, defeating the Port Wyndham Crocs 6:8 44. Also welcome to new umpire Jake Cole, who did very well. more »
