Music: Berlin Philharmonic to screen in Broome
A Perth performance of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra will be simulcast at a Broome cinema in November.

Live regional simulcast of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Regional West Australians will be able to enjoy a performance from the world-renowned Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra close to home, with the State Government supporting a live simulcast from the Perth Concert Hall into regional centres.
In a WA first, the orchestra’s performance at 8pm on Sunday, November 14 will be broadcast simultaneously into the regions via the Westlink network, using high-quality video and audio technology.
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said regional communities would be able to enjoy this world-class concert, free-of-charge, at one of eight venues across WA.
State Government Royalties for Regions funding was supporting the simulcast proposed to be broadcast to the following venues:
Albany Entertainment Centre
Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre
Goldfields Arts Centre, Kalgoorlie-Boulder
Esperance Civic Centre
Cummins Theatre, Merredin
Queens Park Theatre, Geraldton
Walkington Theatre, Karratha
Broome Movie Theatre.
“The broadcast will be run in real time allowing patrons viewing the performance in the regions to enjoy the full concert experience, including the arrival of the orchestra on stage and the ability to purchase programs, food and beverages at their venue,” Mr Grylls said.
“Westlink subscribers with access to satellite de-coding equipment will be able to enjoy the concert from the privacy of their own home.”
Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said the Government was proud to partner with the Perth Theatre Trust and Perth Concert Hall to support the orchestra’s first Australian visit.
“To have this famous orchestra performing in Perth will undoubtedly be a highlight of WA’s cultural calendar,” Mr Day said.
“I am extremely pleased the Government is also giving people in regional areas the opportunity to see this world-class performance.”
Under the baton of their renowned and celebrated chief conductor, Sir Simon Rattle, the orchestra will perform Rachmaninov’s ‘Symphonic Dances’ and Mahler’s masterful ‘Symphony No 1 in D Major’ - two seminal works in their repertoire.
The regional simulcast is a free event, however people wishing to attend will need to book tickets from the relevant venue’s ticketing agency before the performance date.
Tickets will be available from Monday, October 4.
The first WA performance of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra is on Saturday, November 13 at the Perth Concert Hall. Tickets for both Perth performances are available through BOCS Ticketing.
