Fitzroy Crossing and Derby: Police seek murder suspect

Murder suspectNSW police are looking for a man suspected of committing a murder nearly 40 years ago.

The man  is believed to have had several aliases in the early 1970s as he worked at various jobs in the Fitzroy Valley and Derby areas.

Police issue photo of man as investigations continue into NSW murder – Unsolved Homicide Team

Detectives from the Western Region Unsolved Homicide Team in NSW are appealing for public assistance as part of ongoing investigations into the murder of a woman at Coonamble in 1971.

New South Wales Police are appealing to the interstate community, in an effort to further investigations into the murder of Catherine Page at Coonamble, NSW.

Detectives have issued an image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries into the incident, and are appealing to members of the community who may know him.

Police are particularly keen to speak with anyone within the Broome, Derby and Fitzroy Crossing areas, who may know the man.

The man is known to have worked at a hotel at Derby, as well as a hospital in Derby, a roadhouse at Fitzroy Crossing and cattle stations in the Derby area between 1971 and 1974.

The man is described as being of white/ European appearance, about 194cm tall, of solid build, and believed to be aged in his twenties.

The man is believed to have been known under the following aliases: Tex, Big John, Cookie, and Lance Thompson.

Anyone with information about this man or the incident, is urged to contact NSW detectives via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
