Builders sought for Kimberley’s biggest display village.
The State Government today invited builders to register their interest in constructing display homes at Broome North in what will become the biggest display village in the Kimberley.
Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the 10-house display village would be situated on prominent lots on the main entry road into the estate.
“As the demand for housing in Broome continues to increase, this is an outstanding opportunity for a builder to showcase their product in an estate that will eventually house about 13,000 people,” Mr Grylls said.
“Broome North will provide approximately 4,800 lots over 20 years, and ultimately double the size of Broome.”
“The display village is a great way for builders to participate in this momentous development that will effectively create a new community.”
The Minister said participation within the display village would enable builders to take advantage of a significant number of lots currently under construction as well as in future stages.
“LandCorp will be offering 50 lots, exclusively for house and land packages, which will be fairly distributed between successful builders while taking into account their construction capacity.”
Mr Grylls said the village would not only serve as an entry statement into Broome North but become a showcase for attractive, functional and affordable living for the entire estate.
“Builders wishing to participate will have their designs assessed against aesthetic, climate responsiveness, and value for money criteria set out by LandCorp, as well as financial capability,” he said.
“LandCorp will work with builders to refine house designs where necessary, to ensure buildings are attractive, provide optimum comfort for the occupants and represent best value for money.”
“The village is an example of the State Government working in partnership with the private sector to address housing pressure and bring more choice to the market.”

The Registration of Interest process will close Thursday, August 26 at 2pm.
