Local member Barry Haase today praised his party’s education policy announcement.

“If the Liberal Party is elected to Government we will increase and expand the existing Education Tax Rebate, ensure funding for the National School Chaplaincy Programme until 2014, redirect unspent BER ‘school halls’ funds directly to individual schools, move towards a nationally consistent curriculum and instigate a revision of the MySchool website,” he said.

REAL ACTION ON QUALITY EDUCATION
Barry Haase, Federal Member, today welcomed the Liberal Party’s policy announcement on education.
“If the Liberal Party is elected to Government we will increase and expand the existing Education Tax Rebate, ensure funding for the National School Chaplaincy Programme until 2014, redirect unspent BER ‘school halls’ funds directly to individual schools, move towards a nationally consistent curriculum and instigate a revision of the MySchool website.”
An elected Liberal government will also:

Establish a $200 million Better Teacher Reward Fund to keep our best teachers in classrooms.

Commit $120 million towards the establishment of a School Technology Fund.

Help support nearly 6000 students with disabilities and their families through an Education Card, worth up to $20,000 per year for each recipient.

Commit to continuing the existing funding model for schools.

Launch a new national anti‐bullying education campaign and establish a new National Cyber Bullying Taskforce.

Re‐introduce Establishment Grants for new schools started outside the public system.

Commit $15 million to continue the Secure Schools Programme.
“Most importantly for Durack, the Liberal Party will create a $1 billion Regional Education fund. This new funding is above and beyond existing money provided for regional education, offering innovative educational opportunities for country students and providing extra material support for students who need to move to obtain higher education.”
“The Liberal Party is committed to building a world class education system that will equip Australian children to succeed in an increasing competitive world,” said Mr Haase. “We understand that excellence in the classroom directly translates into national prosperity and productivity”.
