Broome: Inquest into Balgo man’s death in custody
An inquest into the death of a 24yo Balgo man who died in police custody commenced yesterday.
The man had been arrested and taken to hospital, but he left the hospital and was picked up again by police who left him unattended in the lockup where he suffered a brain haemmorage.

Babysitter guilty of sexually assault
Perth Childrens Court convicted a 14-year-old Broome boy of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl.
He was babysitting the child at the time.
Gas hub ‘good for tourism’ says Premier
Premier Colin Barnett said a study that says a Kimberley gas hub would harm tourism is wrong.
He said it would create more jobs which would mean more people flying, staying in hotels and eating in restaurants.
New whales ads now on TV
New TV ads urging premier Barnett to declare Kimberley whale sanctuaries are now on television.

Anglo Australian Resources says there is more copper at its Koongie Park project than it had first thought.
The company’s shares rose in value since it announced it had re-examined Koongie drilling samples stored in its Halls Creek premises.

Police divers and volunteers have recovered the body of a man who went missing in a boating accident.

‘Target problem drinkers’ says Pierson-Jones
A man who owns liquor outlets in several Kimberley towns says the government should be targeting problem drinkers.
Martin Pierson-Jones said liquor restrictions in Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing have only moved the problem to Kununurra and Broome.
