Last chance to vote on ‘Wyndham East Kimberley’ name change
Voters in the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley have until tomorrow to vote on the change of name.
The shire wants to drop the word “Wyndam” from the name.
Suplejack: Gold mapping to start

An exploration company is about to start detailed geological mapping at two mining leases next month.
Ord River Resources holds a lease with gold deposits at Suplejack, which is east of Halls Creek just over the NT border, and Copper Flats, just this side of the border.

Broome: Traditional owners and police evict campers
Broome’s Yawuru traditional owners have given Police permission to evict people camping on their land.
The ABC says hundreds of people are being given free bus tickets back home to their towns and communities.
Broome: Shire President plan to ban construction workers
Broome’s Shire President wants construction workers kept out of town when work starts on the proposed gas hub.
The facility at James Price Point would employ up to 5000 workers for five years, and Graham Campbell wants them to spend their time off within the construction camp and not come into town.

Broome: Man fined for indecent assault
A Broome man has been fined $2,000 for indecently touching a woman, and exposing himself.
Christopher Bin Swani, 30, pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault and indecent acts in public.
Comment sought for pre-paid power metres
The government plans to make pre-paid electricity metres to more Kimberley users, and would like your opinion.
The meters are already used by in homes in several remote Aboriginal communities.

Opinion: Ken Travers on Black Spot funding

Ken Travers
WA’s shadow transport minister Ken Travers says the government is not spending enough on a road safety program.
He said funding for the Black Spot program has not increased since 2005, while revenue from vehicle licenses has increased by $167 million during the same period.
