Broome: Rare dolphin at risk
A scientific study says Roebuck Bay’s rare snubfin dolphins are often injured by boats and fishing gear.
A group of recreational fishermen and scientists is calling on the government to set aside about 30% of Roebuck Bay as a marine sanctuary.

The dolphins are recognised as the only species that is exclusive to Australia.
About two-thirds of the Roebuck Bay dolphins show injuries from boat propellers, fishing lines, fishhooks and the like.
