Broome: Shire fails to evict itinerate campers

Only seven itinerate campers have accepted the offer of free tickets home, according to this report.

The rest, who have had medication and bedding thrown away by Shire Rangers breaking up their campsites, have found other less suitable places to stay in Broome.

A shipload of Kimberley cattle is leaving Broome today for Egypt, for the first time in nine years.

The industry has worked to extablish new live export markets since the Indonesian government restricted cattle imports to beasts of 360kilos and below.

Broome: Rare dolphin at risk

A scientific study says Roebuck Bay’s rare snubfin dolphins are often injured by boats and fishing gear.

A group of recreational fishermen and scientists is calling on the government to set aside about 30% of Roebuck Bay as a marine sanctuary.

The dolphins are recognised as the only species that is exclusive to Australia.

About two-thirds of the Roebuck Bay dolphins show injuries from boat propellers, fishing lines, fishhooks and the like.
