Continuing our story from last week, and from 12 March 1865.
Maitland Brown awakes to find Dutchmanchum, his unwilling native interpreter, gone.
Furious, he starts tracking the man, determined to either bring him in or capture and kill one of his family each day until he comes voluntarily.
Brown may have pronounced them “ont guilty” but much worse was to come for many of their family members. To be continued next weekend.
