People: Grace McCarthy

Grace McCarthy is in Cape Town, South Africa.

She is volunteering as an English teacher at an orphanage in one of the townships and she said it is not like nursing at Fitzroy Crossing.

“It’s what I wanted, something very different, but it’s cool,” she said.

She is teaching a class of three children, aged two, three and four, on her own.

“Everything here makes me realize how truly blessed I am and how I take so much for granted…”

She will be back at work in Fitzroy in a couple of weeks.
