Ord irrigation will expand says Grylls
Ord Valley irrigation will continue to expand says lands minister Brendon Grylls.
His comments came after yesterday’s release of a long-awaited report, which said northern Australia’s environment could only support about three times the current irrigated area.
Mr Grylls said the Northern Australia Land and Water Taskforce recommendations would not prevent Ord Stage II expanding by 2011 to 8000 new hectares of arable land, which he said would be “barely noticable”.
