Sue "Penny" Horne & Megan Bartlett-Horne
Sue “Penny” Horne illustrated this year’s Childrens Book of the Year.
She tells us she made many of the images used in the book while travelling with her husband in the Kimberley.
“At a hill just outside Home Valley you can get a bit of a phone signal,” she said.
“I used to check all my emails and sit and sketch there for hours.”
The book The Aussie Outback School, by her daughter-in-law Megan Bartlett-Horne, includes with a read-along CD with original songs for kids.
It has been named as the Australian Bush Laureate Awards “Children’s Book of the Year”.
Author, songwriter and performer, Megan Bartlett-Horne, also won the TSA Songwriter’s Salute Awards “Children’s Song of the Year” (Golden Gumleaf Award) for the accompanying song on the read along CD.
