Grog restrictions on Qantas
Unruly mine workers have prompted grog restrictions on Qantas flights to and from “mining towns”, including Broome.
Flights on these routes nolonger serve spirits or full-strength beer.

Kingston Rest, near Kununurra, is now ready for sandalwood planting.

Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan said alcohol restrictions are not killing off business in Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing.
He said similar schemes could be introduced in other parts of the state.
Broome: Shire approves tower at James Price Point
Broome Shire Council approved a meteorological tower to be erected at James Price Point.
Woodside want the tower there for three years to gather research data.
Ashmore Reef: More boat people intercepted
The navy intercepted a boat with 34 asylum seekers early this morning.
It is the 37th such boat to enter Australian waters this year.

Timor Sea gas leak: ‘more information please’
WA Greens want more information about a gas leak revealed yesterday.
The leak, from an underwater pipe junction connected to a floating rig, has been going on for about eight weeks.
Former Greens MP Robin Chappel said the government and the rig owners should have made the leak public weeks ago, and wants to know how much gas is leaking and what are the hazards.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is establishing a permanent presence in Kununurra and Broome.

Timor Sea: Another leak detected
Another leak has been detected in the Timor Sea, gas this time.
The leak, at a junction of pipes below a floating production vessel, is in the Puffin oilfield 50km from the West Atlas rig and about 440 km north-west of Wyndham.
