Timor Sea: More marine life in oil slick

A report released by the environment minister says fish may be attracted to the Timor Sea oil slick.

This in turn is attracting more birds to feed on the fish, which is killing birds.

The scientist who conducted the “rapid survey” said he is concerned at how little Australia cares about the massive slick.

The gas leak reported in the Timor Sea is less than a pinhole in size say rig owners.

China’s Sinotech said the leak poses no threat to marinelife.

Perth: Environmental protesters smear bodies with oil

Protesters smeared their bikini-clad bodies with oil at a protest outside a St George’s Terrace office today.

They were concerned at the danger posed to marine life by unsafe oil and gas rigs, like the West Atlas rig that has leaked oil into the ocean for ten weeks now.

Kingston Rest, near Kununurra, is now ready for sandalwood planting.

Unlike most local farmers who employ gravity feed from the Ord River diversion damn, growers Tropical Forestry Services (TFS) will be using pressurised irrigation from their own dam.
